Is Your Car on The PILL? September 18, 2007

Let’s start with three basic questions:

• Do you or anyone you know drive an automobile?

• Do you ever wish there was a way to improve your car’s mileage?

• If there was a product on the market that is 100% guaranteed to increase your car’s mileage by 7 – 14% and reduce your car’s emissions as much as 75%, would you be interested in hearing more about it?

If you answered YES to any of these questions and you’re ready to hear more, please take a minute to listen to the brief informational telephone message that will tell you about the little pill that could!

I was skeptical when I first learned of the mpg-caps, but having used them now for four months, I’ve noticed a significant increase in the period of time between fill-ups.

That was enough to convince me.

“It is so satisfying to find there is yet another thing that we can do to reduce our impact on the environment. . . By dropping a pill into the gas tank with each fillup, the mpg-cap allows us to save gas (and money) while helping the environment!”

An Opportunity for Creativity, Faith and Action.

In my quest to discover ways to create enough income to raise my son while sustaining my career as an artist, I’ve started looking into alternative ways of generating money.

I know I want something that doesn’t keep me away from the studio while my son is in school and allows me time with him when he’s not in school. If it involves interacting with or helping people in some way, that’s a plus.

All these buzzwords or expressions that I’ve been running across, have been making their way into my consciousness. . .”Passive Income” has a nice sound to it. . . but doesn’t that sound too good to be true? I imagine lounging around all day in a recliner twiddling my thumbs while a stream of greenbacks snake their way into my mailbox. . . Not possible.

“Investment Income”also sounds good. . . but where’s the money going to come from to even start investing? And besides, isn’t that what we artists are already doing from the moment we start purchasing materials to create finished works of art?

“Residual Income.” Now that sounds like something that has a certain amount of longterm performance activity generated by some kind of initial effort. It definitely doesn’t feel like it has anything to do with a 9-5 job.

Teaching, waiting tables, or some other day job is the normal course of action and can of course work out to some degree. I’ve found however, the work is so time-consuming and energy-draining that there’s hardly the tiniest fraction of time or energy to put into creative work when the workday or work week is over. . . If the job is not too intellectually challenging, we can imagine what we’ll do once we have time in the studio again. . .

So the quest continues. . .I’ll report back any promising findings.

Blogging and Creativity September 4, 2007

Blogging has been my creative outlet these last few weeks, as I have had very little time in the studio to paint.

It’s been fun, and somewhat addictive, to be writing, researching and posting. Each new challenge is even more compelling to achieve than the last.

I’ve come to realize whilst researching online, there are dozens of ways to use the internet to communicate and generate income around whatever it is that interests you.  I find it fascinating, and often overwhelming -  especially with all the blogs.

But I love the fact there are so many opportunities to discover. . .

Nature’s Got A Hold On Me. . . August 10, 2007

I don’t know what it is exactly, but I find that trees, rivers, mist and rain stir me deeply, easily moving me into a state of euphoria. It is like the Passion, a total transformation, connecting something deep within me to a timeless, endless moment somewhere back to the beginning of time and way out into the endless future.

A tingling sensation, pulsing through my body, makes me profoundly grateful to be alive right now, this very day, on this planet.

“How is it”, I think, “that I am so incredibly fortunate to be here at this moment to witness the setting sun’s metallic bronze highlight glowing brilliantly on the trunk of a young fruit tree? . . . And to delight in the spectacle of the sun’s light as it dances among the lower leaves and skirts across the delicate branches. . . Ahhhhh. Let me catch my breath!”

Blogs and business, monetizing and more! August 10, 2007

Filed under: Abundace, Art, Blogging, Business, Money, TECHNOLOGY, WORLD — gabriellesenza @ 7:25 am

The sky seems to be the limit, when it comes to putting the old laptop to work these days. . . There’s so much one can do to create residual income, through referrals, commissions, networking, linking, clicking, winking and writing. Whew!

Who would have guessed?

It just takes a little research, a good chunk of time and a heavy dose of determination.

With what I’ve observed in the last couple of weeks it can definitely be done – even by an amateur like myself!

It feels like being in the studio with a blank canvas, all the materials and resources you’ve ever dreamed of, your favorite music, plus shelves and shelves of books. It’s all there, just waiting for you to begin – to begin creating whatever you wish. . .

Tax-Free Weekend in Massachusetts August 7, 2007

Filed under: Art, Berkshire, Business, Eco-Art, Landscape, Meditations, Money, News, Painting, Travel — gabriellesenza @ 4:45 am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Great Barrington, MA

Just in time for the Tax-Free Weekend: New Prints by Gabrielle Senza!

The 6 x 10 foot painting that Berkshire-based artist, Gabrielle Senza is premiering this weekend at the Kasten Fine Art Gallery in Great Barrington, Massachusetts doesn’t meet the state’s requirements for art collectors to benefit from this weekend’s tax-free holiday. If it did, the fortunate buyers would save $2,000 on the sales invoice, as the painting is going for $40,000. However, the Massachusetts limit on the tax-free holiday is $2,500 for retail purchases.

Fortunately, collectors of Gabrielle Senza’s work – or those who’d like to be – can breathe a sigh of relief because the artist has just released two limited edition prints that are available for $2,500 and $1,000.

The archival pigment ink prints (also known as giclées) feature one of the earlier paintings from the artist’s very popular “Promise of Light” series.  Senza’s signed prints feature the second painting in the series – a striking golden river view featuring a distant range of the Berkshire hills and a cluster of trees standing along the embankment. With poetic wisps of grasses and river plants in the foreground, the scene offers a peaceful spot to both rest and meditate.

The artist is releasing the print in two sizes. A large print featuring a 20 x 40 inch image of the second painting in the series, in an edition of 20 prints, retailing for $2,500 each; and a smaller print, measuring 11 x 22 inches in an edition of 50, available for $1,000 each. Each print is hand signed and numbered by the artist.

The prints will be available this month at Kasten Fine Art Gallery and online at www.gabriellesenza.blogspot.com. Gabrielle Senza’s collaborators on the project are photographer Gregory Cherin and master printer Fred Collins of Berkshire Digital.

My favorite colors. . . August 3, 2007

Long ago I gave up mixing colors from a tube on a palette. It would drive me crazy to run out of a carefully mixed color in the middle of the painting. Thank God I somehow came across the oil pigment sticks by R&F Paints. They go on smooth, like butter. Unlike oil sticks or bars from other companies, R&F’s Pigment Sticks have the consistency and controllability of a really excellent lipstick. . .

It is important to remove the skin that forms over the surface of each stick when they’ve sat awhile and dried out. Then you can draw directly on your canvas, paper or wood surface, blend and smooth with brushes, or as I do, move the paint around on the surface with my hands (wearing rubber gloves of course).

Check out the R&F Website for inspiration and information.

Oh yes, the colors. . . Here are some of the colors I use most often:
naples yellow

brownish pink

turkey umber greenish

raw umber

brilliant extra pale yellow

neutral white

the list goes on and on. . .
